Re: Unconverted worshippers?

This last page or two has been fascinating, especially the Beiler piece. Personally, I would probably take issue with his (at least partial) dismissal of water baptism and its placement in his preferred order, but that's another thread entirely. So for you sprinkle or pour types on here, I'm curiou...

Re: Unconverted worshippers?

I gave the book away Edsel, but the next time I go to Rabers Bookstore in Holmes County, I will buy the book again- I had shared about this book on our former "Mennodiscuss" and I may have meant 19th century, which would be 1800-s- I can't even remember his name now, but when I get the co...

Re: Unconverted worshippers?

Jesus told Nicodemus “Ye must be born again”. No baptism involved. Born by water (Baptism) & the Spirit (at one's Baptism, the Holy Spirit is received- This was prophetic words from Jesus- the New Testament Christians were born again by water & spirit by their baptism- John the Baptist was ...

Re: What are you reading?

Later Writings of the Swiss Anabaptists, 1529-1592.

I am not yet into the main part of the collection, "A Short, Simple Confession," c. 1590, but so far there is very interesting material in this collection.

Re: The Pilgrim Church, E. Hamer Broadbent

Is there any denomination that doesn't sway history when they write it to make themselves sound good? When we look at scripture, the church had many issues. I think this was just being humble and honest. For more thoughts on this look up David Bercot - "What True Greatness Looks Like" I b...

Re: Salvation by faith and works..?

Funny, I was reading a sermon by Christian Burkholder from another topic, and I have to say I really enjoyed reading it. On the topic of faith he said something interesting: "Yet, whoever you are, let us think for a moment, what can be done in the kingdom of this world with gold and silver, an...

Re: Lester's concoctions and spewing

Sylvester’s Journal… Introduction This book takes place in the 1870’s in a large Mennonite community in the eastern part of North America, probably either in Ontario or Pennsylvania. Spiritually, the Mennonite Church was in a very low period during this time. They considered the Methodists to be th...
