Re: Churches, Dealerships, and Franchises
Ernie, I'm not ready to say it's good or bad but I am pointing out it's not "staying the same" from a philosophical viewpoint and that shift likely has repercussions that should be considered as well. Yes, I will be quick to say that there are some really negative repercussions. However, ...

Re: Churches, Dealerships, and Franchises
I don't care for the idea of legislating uniforms if it means those that don't wear the uniform are not given the kiss of fellowship or permitted to be in community, that is communion, with the saints. I am certainly in agreement with this. But I think that where this happens, there is some bad the...

Re: Churches, Dealerships, and Franchises
Similarly there is a difference between wearing suitable clothing commonly available in your era and freezing the standard to preserve that style in perpetuity. I take it that you do not think this is a good idea. Do you feel the same way about monasteries and nunneries that do this very thing? And...

If you bought a middle of the road new appliance 5 years ago, and have had no problems with it, would you get a service agreement for the next three years for $80 per year. In particular, I am wondering about a dishwasher, but I have the same question about other appliances.

Re: Churches, Dealerships, and Franchises
Vanishingly few people are in the churches their grandparents or great grandparents are in. That applies to basically every plain ordnung out there including Eastern, Pilgrim, Groffdale, Weaverland, etc...none of which existed 140 or so years ago... I don't know what you are seeing that I am not......

Re: Churches, Dealerships, and Franchises
Not really, no, because I don't think there is any value in holding up my own family as somehow being holier or more spiritual than the rest of my brethren, nor that thinking my light shines a bit brighter than theirs does. If there is a problem, I would try to address it church or school wide, and...

Re: Churches, Dealerships, and Franchises
If you allow such persons to join the church and demand changes. Well, not allowing transitional persons (or specifically transitional persons who then get away with demanding changed) to join would be a good thing. But I haven't seen any transitional places that are able to actually put this in pr...

Re: Churches, Dealerships, and Franchises
2. On one side, you might have folks who live very simply, and engineer their own way of getting their van started such as a push button to run the fuel pump for 15 seconds prior to trying to start the car, and a metal rod sticking out of the dash that adjusts the vent. (I rode in such a vehicle re...

Re: Churches, Dealerships, and Franchises
That would simply be a consequence of the fact that cape dresses are no longer important and the custom is dying out. Except that it is not. More people at our church are wearing cape dresses than before. We have people in our church who do not want their children on the internet, and those who do ...
