Re: Charlotte Shootout
Let’s consider this scenario, criminal doesn’t respond. What now? You could just text the guy if he is that compliant and tell him to show up at the county jail. But they don't know if he is going to be compliant. Officers could do the same thing that they currently do, or call in more help. But at...

Re: Charlotte Shootout
Is this really how you would want it to go down if you forgot to pay a traffic ticket and ended up with a warrant for your arrest? Traffic ticket arrests wouldn't need to be handled this way. I'm of the opinion that the scenario you are suggesting would only exacerbate the existing police vs. suspe...

If the militants deliberately defy the separation and infiltrate the non-militants (which has been their strategy), then we are just back where we started. And wouldn't self-identifying as a militant be painting a target on your back? You might be right. At the least, Israel could separate the wome...

Re: Charlotte Shootout
When our military clears houses in Iraq or Afghanistan, often the lead guy faces extreme risk of death due to being the first guy in. Making an effort to identify friend or foe before shooting increases the likelihood of getting shot. Hypothetically, if they had an armored car, what would they have...

Re: War in Gaza
You think they are just going to pack up and move north because some Palestinian mothers ask them to? I think there could have been more separation between the militants and non-militants. If the militants deliberately defy the separation and infiltrate the non-militants (which has been their strat...

Israel would have had the capability of setting up a tent cities with check points into the cities if they wan...

Re: War in Gaza
From a strategic viewpoint, I think it would have been better, originally, for Israel to tell Gazans that if they support Hamas and other militants, they should move to the north, and if not, to move to the south. And then put pressure on the people in the south to get the militants to move north. ...

Re: War in Gaza
For the underlying question, the best answer is that empires often seem willing to sacrifice lots of ground troops for dubious ends. For some examples, you can look at Russia and Ukraine right now, both of which are sending legions of men into a meat grinder, with neither side really achieving much...

Re: Charlotte Shootout
A question though...
Is there really no way for law enforcement officers to avoid this sort of thing? It sounds like they eventually drove an armored vehicle right into the house.
For example, Could they not use such vehicles to serve the warrant initially, so they would have some protection?
