Re: Trump: A MennoNet Poll

I'm curious if someone could explain if it is appropriate for Christians to critique government leaders or their decisions? Which Kingdom should we be drawing people's attention too? That's the reason that I haven't said much about Donald Trump on this forum, and I've said almost nothing on Faceboo...

Re: Trump: A MennoNet Poll

I have certain questions about the "ethical norms" of people who think, for example, that abortion is OK. Who exactly decides what is ethical? Perhaps the 20+ women who say Trump sexually abused them , doing some of the things he bragged that he could get away with in the Access Hollywood...

Re: Trump: A MennoNet Poll

Trump's battering of norms is one of the most striking characteristics of his presidency, and one of the things he campaigned on. That includes ethical norms. Sometimes he even mocks ethical and democratic norms, bragging about what he can get away with. And that can include a kind of bullying that ...

Re: Global Warning/Climate Change

When it comes to prophesying major long term predictions, no one knows what will happen with certainty. And we are being asked not only to believe the prediction of warming, but also the results of this prediction coming true will be terrible. Decades ago, people were (and still are) worrying about...

I don't really understand why some people think it's important to campaign against mainstream science. I don't really understand why some people think it's important to campaign for mainstream science. I would not normally discuss Mennonites on a science forum. If someone kept talking trash about M...

Re: Common Core: “Bill Gates Tacitly Admits .. Failure”

I'm not sure the rest of us should be too focused on what's going on with "Common Core" or the latest public educatoin ideas. Unless it happens to be your profession..... :D Exactly. I'm very glad to see people like you educating our children. Hmmm, since you are a professional in this fi...

Re: Common Core: “Bill Gates Tacitly Admits .. Failure”

How does the mechanical business owners income compare with todays PhD income? PhD incomes depend a lot on the university and the subject. In English and the humanities they are generally paid a lot less. My father was an English professor at a small college in Kentucky, and at one point I found th...

Re: Global Warning/Climate Change

Can you also give us a good reason why we shouldn't trust mainstream science on the issue of human origins? That's a different topic, I think. No it's not. You are implying that we need to trust mainstream science in climate issues but not in the issue of human origins. Why do you trust them in one...

Re: Global Warning/Climate Change

The One who said this is the One I trust above any man who tries to predict what the sea is going to do. I'm simple enough to believe that God is still controlling what is happening with the sea today, not man. Do you believe that man can pollute the seas? Do you believe that man can overfish? Can ...

Re: Global Warning/Climate Change

Can you give us a good reason to trust the mainstream science on this issue of climate change? This was my answer: When I have looked at the predictions of the IPCC over the years, my impression is that climate changes were within the window of likely outcomes that they predicted. Would it be usefu...
