Re: The Great Dechurching
Later in the same article: The problem in front of us is not that we have a healthy, sustainable society that doesn’t have room for church. The problem is that many Americans have adopted a way of life that has left us lonely, anxious, and uncertain of how to live in community with other people. The...

The Great Dechurching
Interesting take on why fewer and fewer Americans go to church. https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2023/07/christian-church-communitiy-participation-drop/674843/ Nearly everyone I grew up with in my childhood church in Lincoln, Nebraska, is no longer Christian. That’s not unusual. Forty milli...

Christians in the 2024 Election
We're obviously entering into an election season. How should we approach that as Christians? What is the best way to be the Kingdom of God between now and the election? Request: Please don't talk about which candidates you prefer in this thread, or what bothers you about people who disagree with you...

Re: Video: Adolf Hitler in English AI Reconstruction
I found the Hitler speech in English quite compelling. It hits harder than simply reading the text in translation. I agree. For those who do know German, I find it a LOT easier to listen to Hitler with headphones, the sound quality is bad on these recordings, I understand it much better that way. T...

Re: Assigning blame vs. holding accountable... the difference?
Holding accountable requires authority over the people involved. I'm not sure I agree with that. Do we not as Christians have a responsibility toward those we love if we see them choosing a dangerous path? I do, but I don't think that's the same thing as holding someone accountable. They are accoun...

Re: Assigning blame vs. holding accountable... the difference?
Holding accountable requires authority over the people involved. It also requires actually understanding the facts. It usually occurs more slowly. It isn't done in order to promote yourself. It's not about revenge.
Assigning blame requires none of that.
Assigning blame requires none of that.

Re: Credible News Sources
Wise people have always consumed news critically. And therefore, wise people use news sources that are clear about their claims, evidence for those claims, and sources. Without that, it's not possible to consume news critically. And wise people watch stories as they develop over time, changing thei...

Re: Credible News Sources
Keep looking. If you find it, please let us know. I don’t know where I read it. Seems to be a quote that materialized between 1998 and 2007. https://style.mla.org/five-commonly-misattributed-quotations/ 3. “If you don’t read the newspaper, you’re uninformed. If you do, you’re misinformed.” This quo...
