Re: About face! - Evangelicals and public morality

It is very common in any case to ignore the moral failings of our "heroes", whether we lean left or right in our political, social and religious inclinations. Dozens of examples could be cited from Gandhi to Ronald Reagan. Those pointing a finger at the American Evangelical Right should n...

Re: American Sign Language software

Does anyone have experience with a software package for learning American Sign Language? (The person asking has lost his hearing, & has an chip-implant, so that he can hear a bit, but not well.) What I have is ancient, there are better packages now. There are definitely good packages these days...

Re: Credible News Sources

The same goes for journalism. There is measurable journalistic protocol that can safeguard objectivity. If I start with sources that submit to this journalistic rigor, I'm guaranteed to be miles ahead in finding the truth - that is if objective truth is what I really want in the first place. Some o...

Re: MentorLink Leaders' Covenant

Christian men and Christian women mostly have different roles, responsibilities, and strengths in the work of the church and in the Christian home and family. Notice that in the Titus passage quoted above, men and women are explicitly addressed separately concerning their gender specific responsibi...

Re: Credible News Sources

I doubt that we are terribly accurate when we claim to know someone else's "agenda", and that's usually done to dismiss what they are saying without bothering to come to grips with the facts that they present. Even if we could do that accurately, people with a variety of agendas can still...

Re: MentorLink Leaders' Covenant

When Paul wrote 2 Timothy his situation had probably changed radically from when he wrote the previous prison epistles such as Ephesians. He was no longer under close house arrest but was probably now in the Mamertine dungeon from which the chances of release were slim. What is bright and shining h...

Re: Christian Community and Mental/Emotional Illness

From what i witness in my own family, today's laws guarantee victims "the right" to freely die in gutters. That is, if help is not requested by the victim, family, friends, others, have no recourse. A lot of this goes back to a Supreme Court decision. Unless you can show that a mentally i...
