Re: Service Agreements

I bought all new appliance right at 4.5 years ago. I didn't buy the warranty. There was supposed to be some factory warranty, but they ended up expiring or didn't cover the problem. Since then, my Maytag dishwasher, and Maytag oven, and Speed Queen clothes dryer all have had expensive repairs. The d...

Re: Works of the flesh observations

Dissensions - implies strife or discord and stresses a division into factions. Sounds to me like what has happened to many Anabaptists. Perhaps the most fragmented group in church history. The city and vicinity where I live in southern Ontario has many Mennonite groups that at some point in time ap...

Re: AP Video: How to Read Revelation & Avoid the Mark of the Beast

My opinion and theory is that when it started, Eastern was so sick of relativism and growing worldliness in the Mennonite church, that they over corrected into fundamentalism or literalism. And they found themselves with a mindset that left little room for not taking the Bible (N.T. teachings) lite...

Re: Story Time!

I gave beer to very sick (and very expensive) rabbit once. Wife: did it help? Yes. My first ambulance partner was a dairy farmer. (keep in mind he was Horning Mennonite!). He would go to the beer distributor and buy the cheapest beer in a glass bottle. When cows would get "twisted stomach"...

Re: Freight trains, Steve the Otter, and random posts!

That's something I wish we had around here. We have a Chinese joint on almost every corner, but no real Mexican food. We used to have two Chinese restaurants. One closed. And now a Korean place opened. When one of the three Chinese restaurants closed in the local town, two sushi places were built. ...

Local Mexican restaurant makes the nicest I’ve tried. We have about 10 Mexican restaurants in town, and this one comes to your table and makes it fresh right at your table for you. That's something I wish we had around here. We have a Chinese joint on almost every corner, but no real Mexican food. ...

Re: Poll: Who will win 2024 Presidency?

I think both will have less enthusiasm and engagement than they did in 2020.

Re: Freight trains, Steve the Otter, and random posts!

One of our local grocery stores makes an in-house guacamole that is most likely the best I've had. Just enough zip to it to keep it interesting. The down side is, once the seal is broke, it gets brown in a hurry. My wife makes hers then vacuum seals it in portions that she knows we will eat. The re...

Re: Churches, Dealerships, and Franchises

I also don’t see it working to try to compose a church / school of people with wildly varying practices. It seems such a congregation lacks unity at a fundamental level. I don't know what you mean by wildly varying, but as I said earlier, there needs to be parameters of course. I'd rather be in a c...
