So, would we rather that those who commit crimes were abandoned by all, to stand in court without a friend or supporter present? That is actually the norm in our society. That means the next four years will mostly be a caretaker government run by either Biden's executive branch appointments (and we already know who they are) or Trump's executive branch appointments (who we do not yet know). This writer basically says this would normally be a case where you might get probation rather than jail time, but that anything is possible. Trump potentially violating gag orders isn't helping him any.
