Re: War in Gaza

Israel isn’t interested in “negotiating with terrorists,” which was once SOP/Standard Operating Procedure, thought to be necessary to prevent terrorism. Why does this not apply to Hamas? If you want a ceasefire, you have to negotiate. Israel has killed a lot more civilians than Hamas has. Israel’s ...

Re: War in Gaza

The operation in Iraq was much larger scale. Of course, it didn’t work in the long run. How are you measuring scale? Air drops of food. Sending ships across the Atlantic to build a pier. Etc. The operation in Iraq saw many ships sent over along with massive airlifts in many large cargo planes.

Re: War in Gaza

News is reporting that Hamas has accepted a ceasefire proposal: https://apnews.com/article/israel-palestinians-gaza-hamas-war-humanitarian-aid-8659eae6e0a7362504f0aa4aa4be53e0 And that Israel and Netanyahu are the obstacles and announcing their rejection of a ceasefire. I'm curious to see if intern...

Re: Pilgrim Mennonite Conference current events

When Pilgrimsplit from EPMC they would NEVER have supported a web page. Not judging but clearly their standards have moved sufficiently from Eastern that some are not happy….hence the creation of Northeast Conference The Internet didn't exist in the way we think of it today in 1991. It's curious to...

Re: Paul Graham - How to Disagree

Where does the Bible say we have to accept as authorities on topics of morality people who are anti-Christian? The Bible talks about sins of speech, but it doesn’t say I have to accept as a moral authority in righteousness every person who makes claims to be one. And the Bible does teach we should a...

Re: Paul Graham - How to Disagree

I don’t think pointing out someone is of poor character is “as hominem”. Basically. I don’t think people of poor character and with a fundamentally anti-Christian worldview are the right place to go for either the truth or facts. Of course, some people want to divorce their poor character from their...

Re: A great analogy for Anabaptist church/state understanding

Putting aside the political figures discussed or this former pastor's Nov vote choice, I thought his analogy of ambassadorship was very good... I'm not sure what branch of Christianity he comes from, but he almost sounds like an Anabaptist. The ambassador for Christ analogy occupies about the middl...

Re: War in Gaza

America loves doing that. Iraq, Afghanistan. “Hearts and minds.” It is called the Three Block something or other. The first block is the fighting, The next block is the securing the infrastructure and the third block is humanitarian, if I am remembering it right. The US military used this in all th...
