Re: Windows Network Bridge issues

169.254 addresses are called "zeroconf" or "autoconfiguration". If a PC connects to a network but no DHCP server answers, it will eventually assign itself an IP address, which it can use to communicate with other PCs on the network, but obviously cannot reach the Internet. The br...

Re: War in Gaza

i realize few are listening to Israel now, but, they have a valid side, and they make a strong case for themselves wrt how they treat others, in Israel and elsewhere. Including Palestinians. Can you explain the "strong case" for bombing a convoy of Danish cooks trying to distribute meals ...

Re: Distinguishing Mountains from Molehills

But I'm going to try to answer your question. I put it there because almost no one acts like it's in the first list. We recognize many people as Christians who are not of Anabaptist thinking in this matter - we sing their songs, read their books, learn about and appreciate their life stories, etc. ...

Re: They call it a NEV -- a Neighborhood Electric Vehicle

Judging from the fact that I know a minister-bishop who has one, I would guess that some districts have fully accepted them. There is a minority that have explictly accepted them. The rest seem to be powerless to stop it. I have heard there are 3 specific OOA districts that to still discipline for ...

Re: Outlawing homelessness: City of Grants Pass v. Johnson

Dealing with human behavior is complex and simplistic solutions are not easily found. The ability of governments to criminalize behavior typically outpaces their ability to enforce. Often the approach is to make the unwanted behavior more difficult or uncomfortable than other options. It's very eas...

Re: Churches, Dealerships, and Franchises

These problems all got a lot worse during COVID. As a general rule, plain people (particularly the less conservative they are) prefer to socialise with their relatives and don't even think to include their non-relatives in things.

I'm not sure how this problem could be fixed.

A question though... Is there really no way for law enforcement officers to avoid this sort of thing? It sounds like they eventually drove an armored vehicle right into the house. For example, Could they not use such vehicles to serve the warrant initially, so they would have some protection? Sheri...

I personally think the program was wasteful but I can also see the forest for the trees and don't have any issues with businesses who took advantage of it legally. The US economy recovered faster than any other developed economy and that enormous injection of dollars was one of the contributing fac...
