Re: Poll: Auto Accident Fatalities and Injuries

Professor Ken, Are you sure you need to conduct your 1L required courses right now in this thread? The people you are speaking with may already be educated and understand things like "intent" and "negligence", in particularl oj, who has to think about this concepts as part of his...

Re: The Danger of Reactionary Theology

Holdemanns excommunicate everyone who leaves their church. I wasn't aware that the Holdemans do this. More accurately, Holdemans don't believe that one can leave God's church without also leaving God, too. Since they don't view the church as "our church", but rather God's church, they don...

This case should be a wake up call to any Christian that we have serious problems with phones when one gets thrown in prison for crime of using them. Any of us who use a phone in a non car safe mode while driving should repent. If that isn’t enough, get rid of your smartphone while you still can ch...

Re: The Danger of Reactionary Theology

I don't see "worth keeping" vs. "optional" as a way to categorize doctrines. I know my church thinks the head covering is worth keeping. But we also think Christians can disagree about important matters, even things that make it necessary to belong to a different congregation or...

Given how expensive pick up trucks are, I often wonder how much of a Christian spirit it shows to have brand new fully loaded trucks.

Re: Churches, Dealerships, and Franchises

Interesting. Will your kids go to a Holdeman school? Yes. It is nearly universal that children go to a church school. (If missionaries and the mission is too small to establish even a tiny school, then the mission board will send a teacher for that mission family.) The only exception is (a) someone...

Re: Service Agreements

I wouldn't buy a new appliance in the first place, but if I did, I would assume that a service plan that cheap would come from a provider that will find a way to avoid fixing anything. Here are some examples: #1. The fine print says you have to mail the appliance in to them to be fixed - too expensi...

Re: Churches, Dealerships, and Franchises

I am not convinced that the movement in Anabaptist churches is primarily driven by "what we are allowed to do." That is a factor...however their are larger sociological and ecclesiological issues at play I think that are sector wide in the western/protestant churches that have folks lacki...

Re: Churches, Dealerships, and Franchises

That would simply be a consequence of the fact that cape dresses are no longer important and the custom is dying out. Except that it is not. More people at our church are wearing cape dresses than before.[/quote] That is good to hear. Amongst the transitional groups around me, eventually they just ...
