Re: Morals & ethics behind supporting certain mission efforts?

And prayer and fasting on behalf of those addicted is very much involved. I believe we would see more results if the focus was more on prayer and fasting on behalf of those addicted and a belief that God can deliver us from any and all sins and their effects. I used to be part of a small group wher...

Re: Poll: Who will win 2024 Presidency?

That's because many people (correctly) perceive these trials as being biased, unfair, and basically political show trials. Americans don't like that. Have you been paying any attention to the current trial? Most any other person, after violating their conditions of release in other criminal trials,...

Re: Mennonite Girl ,3, swept over waterfalls,2 years ago, parents now charged

If the family is ex-Mennonite, though, there's no need to add "Mennonite" to the title. It would be better to just say "Girl, 3, swept over waterfalls, 2 years ago, parents now charged". Unless headlines should start saying "Girl, 3, swept over waterfalls whose parents are e...

In that case, it would be more accurate to change this thread's title to "Worldly, non-Mennonite girl, 3, swept over waterfalls, 2 years ago, parents now charged". oh, so you know these people? Based on what mike said, that the family is ex-Mennonite. It just means it would make for a muc...

Re: Poll: Who will win 2024 Presidency?

It continues to baffle me that Trump has as good a chance as he does of getting a second term. It is broadly reported today that he is ahead in the polls in the battleground states as he is in the middle of a criminal trial that could get him jail time . That's because many people (correctly) perce...

Re: Morals & ethics behind supporting certain mission efforts?

That is a solid point. Let's take alcoholics* for example. I know many folks that go cold turkey and quit entirely, stay sober for a while (dry January?) but with the notion in the back of their head they can go back and drink "normal". They want to be free, but with the option of going b...

https://www.foxnews.com/world/un-revises-gaza-death-toll-50-less-women-children-killed-previously-reported Before anyone jumps in to say that this can't be trusted because it's Fox News, I did confirm this drop in numbers on the UN website. Only 12 756 women and children killed. I guess that number...

Re: Morals & ethics behind supporting certain mission efforts?

Drug use and addiction is like any other sin: do you want to keep sinning, or do you want to stop? There is a Saviour who does help bring freedom from sin. Often, the addict is willing to give up 99% of their problem, but not 100%, over to Jesus. One fellow I worked with for a while (and a few frien...

Re: Morals & ethics behind supporting certain mission efforts?

Ultimately, stopping using drugs isn't that hard. When someone truly hits rock bottom, they'll stop using and get clean. My spirit disagrees with this statement. It could be correct, somehow. It is also unhelpful and in my opinion barely passes the test of Christian charity. Let’s try another examp...
