Re: Amish World's Healthiest Children

The author should consider there might be some other factor leading to the generally good health and better outcomes Amish children have vs their non-Amish neighbours.

There other populations who are unvaccinated who don't overall match the strong health profile found in Amish communities.

Re: NFL “values”

At the local level, we had a nice rape scandal at Steubenville high school (home of the "Big Red" football team), where the administration decided that it was more important to keep their star football players around than deal with the fact those football players raped an unconscious under...

Re: Progressive/Conservative threshold?

Let's try tot to induce a heart attack on the mods 8-) Thanks for thinking of us, I guess, though it seems a bit childish. I'll totes put a cardiologist on speed dial. In this thread , the consensus seemed to be that BMA was the dividing line between "conservatives" and "liberals.&qu...

Re: Poll: Daniel Perry - Should he have been pardoned?

Had Foster shot Perry, his stand-your-ground self-defense claim would have been far less tenuous than the one Perry made. But can you imagine Gov. Abbott coming to his defense? Issuing him a pardon? A Black Lives Matter marcher? Not in a million years. For way, way too many Republicans, political v...

Re: War in Gaza

America has a larger Jewish population than Israel does. And American Jews have a wide, wide variety of opinions on things. Some of the most ultra-orthodox religious ones don't recognise Israel as legitimate, because they would only recognise a true theocracy complete with rebuilding the temple. Oth...

Re: War in Gaza

I realized that of course but who was responsible for establishing Israel in 1948? The United Nations. How would the persecuted Jews have seen this reestablishment? Perhaps the same way the persecuted Armenians did when Armenia gained its independence in 1990? And I guess this is the first I ever h...

Re: Francis Scott Key Bridge Collapse

If the Baltimore teachers decided to be collectively represented by beer near the stern of a ship, that could explain a few things. (Could this be related to the Dali incident?)

Re: Bunny Trails

I think this is futile. ISRAEL was attacked October 7. Threatened to be completely anialated. You may go there and help them out with why they were supposed to just roll over and let that happen. Can you explain how Israel choosing to bomb Orthodox and Catholic churches is okay? There is no reasona...

Re: War in Gaza

It's trying to understand the mindset of the Jewish people. "The Jewish people" are not of one single mindset. There are very different viewpoints in Israel. Some people advocate a two-state solution, others a one-state solution, etc. I truly am not "evangelically" influenced ab...

Re: War in Gaza

The perspective Valerie has is not an uncommon one, and to be frank, it is one that I keep hearing from various evangelical sorts of people. They speak as if the Bible actually condones anything the present-day State of Israel wants to do when it goes to war. I find this approach to scripture troubl...
