Re: Progressive/Conservative threshold?
Biblically based belief and practice. I realize that is much harder to measure than things like tie or no, straight-cut or lapel suits, and a lot of other things as well. So recognizing that you specifically said "In regards to your own personal standards and applications", I will add the...

Re: Church Government Models
It should be noted that different personality types, different cultures, people from different backgrounds, etc. may indeed prefer differing governance models. Our church in Nigeria seems to prefer a more authoritarian way of doing things than is the norm in our church. The membership and leaders t...

Re: MennoNet and Genealogy
When talking with people who use the English word 'Dutch' to refer to what in the language itself they call 'Datsch', I say 'Holland Dutch, not PA Dutch'. But THEY are the ones who are using the 'wrong' word - that's not my fault, and I don't mind 'educating people', if they want to listen. As an A...

Re: MennoNet and Genealogy
Then along a different line, I also say I'm Dutch Mennonite when wanting to make a distinctive reference to the Dutch "baptism-minded" as distinct from the Swiss Brethren heritage and tradition. This is confusing, because using the term "Dutch" around here usually is in referenc...

Re: Modern day Anabaptist perception towards postcards, handwritten letters, snail mail, etc?
I still write an occasional letter by hand, mostly to my mom, but my handwriting is horrific, not only because I am left handed, but also because I quickly get hand cramps and then my writing is shaky. (Some days I can hardly write out a check clearly.) So while I still do a lot of hand-written note...

Re: Modern day Anabaptist perception towards postcards, handwritten letters, snail mail, etc?
"Stamp it up" was some MLM that used to be popular but doesn't seem to be catching on with the younger generation. When people want fancy wedding invitations now they pay to get it done online, it seems. I see more and more young Amish women creating all of their own invitations, name car...
