Re: Conversing with Conservative Anabaptists

I regularly make introductions with new people for work in a typical large corporate environment in large American cities, and I almost never get a last name. I usually try to check their cubicle’s name plate or look for an email, etc. so I can keep track of what it is. When I forget I’m not with p...

Re: Okay ladies, your turn!

I believe that we do not, in general, have an accurate grasp of what Paul was speaking of when he instructed women to dress in modest apparel.

Re: Salvation issues

I think something becomes a salvation issue for me if I know what I should do, or should and could know what I should do if I wanted to know, and refuse to do it.

Re: Transition to a more *liberal* church??

I would really encourage you to not focus so much on what the church standard is or isn't, but what Biblical directives would require and what Biblical principles would suggest you do, and what the Spirit of God might be saying...Do that out loud in your family. Encourage your children to do the sam...

Re: Church Attendance

I would choose a church that came as close to supporting my beliefs as I could find and at least attend there if not join. We can learn things from others. We do not have a corner on the truth market in our anabaptist churches, even if we are sincerely wishing to do what God wants us to do. God has ...

Re: Did Jesus teach salvation by works?

There are numerous places where the Bible specifies what we will be judged by...our words, our works. We will be judged by how we judged. We will be judged by our forgiveness of others, or lack thereof...are there others? We are saved by our faith in Jesus, but the Bible is clear that faith without ...

Re: Mennonite Flash Mob

Do you see no difference between a person who knows Christ and has Him living in his/her heart listening to an amoral song, versus having the opportunity to share Christ with people who may not know Him at all, and out of a whole repertoire of songs that would do that, choosing one in another langua...

Re: Mennonite Flash Mob

Perhaps if I heard the thought process that led them to choose that song, I would see their point and agree with them! Perhaps not! If they are as closely tied here as you say, let them present their thinking as they wish, and tell me where they think I am wrong or off-base. It would certainly be m...

Re: Mennonite Flash Mob

I think the choir did something good. And maybe the people in this particular place already know the English hymns, so they were exposing them to something new. A store where plain people shop is probably not the same thing as the town square of a secular city. I also worry that sometimes it's real...
