Re: Poll: Jewelry, Rings, and Bands
My wife and I attend a conservative independent mennonite church and still wear our wedding rings, one reason we are not members yet. (My wife has dropped her engagement ring however). This is my personal experience with it. At the time my wife and I got married we were living in different states an...

Re: Does the "Charity Church" really exist anymore?
I'm new to the forum here but saw this post and wanted to chime in :) To answer Steve's original question, Yes, Charity Christian Fellowship in Leola PA is still very active and definitely does exist. Plenty of other "Charity Churches" exist too. However, as has already been mentioned, so...

Re: Interested in learning about Holdemans
Holdemans have no concept you can “cancel” or “transfer” your membership. These are the only possible states a person can be: #1. A non member who has never become a member. (This is most people.) This person may or may not be a born again Christian. #2. A member who is a Christian. #3. A member wh...

Re: Which Plain Anabaptists vote?
I'd be curious to see what you come up with. I think it was George W. Bush who really made the first effort to attract Amish and CA votes in 2004, mainly in Ohio as it was the key swing state in that election. Before that I think the Amish at least were extremely a-political. What are you seeing on...

Re: Have Christians unintentionally caused abortions?
So then if it's what I also expected, that most cases of singlehood pregnancy is with a insider guy Every example I can think of involves two young people who either left the church, or were on their way out of the church. Not much any of us can do to control them. why is it that you feel as you sa...

Re: Poll: Concealed Weapons among Plain Anabaptists?
[But now that I realize it's almost 100%, my question is why is there such a strong aversion to inner city ministry on the part of conservative Mennonites. Even in Baltimore, they go to the one place where it's not inner city. No place to grow tomatoes?? ;) I get that with rural Mennonites. I was j...

Re: Have Christians unintentionally caused abortions?
Am curious, are most situations involving a single woman getting pregnant in the anabaptist circles involved with a guy outside those circles. If that's the case, I'd expect the number of guys doing the same to be easily double that of single mothers but probably more likely 10x more common. Based ...

Re: Poll: Concealed Weapons among Plain Anabaptists?
The people in York are centred in the worst part of town. The people in Baltimore, well, it’s a nice part of Baltimore... but it gets dicey if you go a few blocks. Only in the rural Mennonite world would York, PA be considered high crime area. That just drives home my point that conservative Mennon...

Re: Poll: Concealed Weapons among Plain Anabaptists?
Some of it could be personal situations that are unique. Most conservative mennonites live in very low crime rural communities with at least decent police response times. Now let's say that one lives in a place with homocides rates well above inner city detroit and police response rates of two hour...

Re: Have Christians unintentionally caused abortions?
The father who fathered a child out of wedlock? He should repent, but usually that guy isn't around and certainly isn't interested in my opinion on spiritual things. Your answers are surprisingly judgemental and lacking grace. Maybe you have never been around repentant sinners that much. :angel I'm...
