Re: The Danger of Reactionary Theology

Doesn't this reveal what you actually view as doctrine worth keeping versus things that are "optional", though? The head covering is obviously optional - one can simply switch to a different "dealership" much as someone might switch from driving a 1960 Dodge without headrests to...

Re: Poll: Who will win 2024 Presidency?

Who will win the 2024 Presidency? Not the US citizen. We will continue to loose. I'm also not enthused about the political system but neither am I despondent, nor do I feel I am being cheated or stolen from nor mistreated. A majority of the world's population would trade with me and take the deal o...

Re: Churches, Dealerships, and Franchises

I wouldn't argue against that. I still wear a straight cut suit from time to time even though it's not a common value in my group, simply because it was taught to me as a cultural value, not a fundamentalist biblical value. Others wear dress clothing that marks their cultural inheritance and I appre...

Re: Churches, Dealerships, and Franchises

Ernie, I'm not ready to say it's good or bad but I am pointing out it's not "staying the same" from a philosophical viewpoint and that shift likely has repercussions that should be considered as well.

Re: Churches, Dealerships, and Franchises

...All groups adapt and define. Controversy forces definition. I would suggest that what you are misidentifying as "Fundamentalist Creeds" are actually restatements of what the church ACTUALLY believed all along. For example, very few would have doubted things like the inspiration, histor...

Re: AP Video: How to Read Revelation & Avoid the Mark of the Beast

I wonder if there a hewing towards premillennialism that happens the more a group is influenced by evangelical thinking. Or are evangelicals not predominantly premillennials? Among Mennonites, yes. The less-conservative groups that adopted more Fundamentalist/Evangelical thinking are the ones that ...

Re: Distinguishing Mountains from Molehills

Praxis+Theodicy, I'm glad to see you have put quotation marks around "important" when discussing commands vs. principles. Principles are quite important. It's hard for me to say the principles of the new covenant are less "important" than the commands, but like you I recognize fl...

Three of the categories are true for me.

Re: AP Video: How to Read Revelation & Avoid the Mark of the Beast

And there are some "Evangelicals" in America who seem to believe in some apocalyptic vision but not in following much of anything else in the Bible ... The vision of a coming apocalypse is quite sturdy, it survives after all other biblical beliefs are cast off. Even secularists and atheis...

I don't see that President Trump will spend a single day in prison.
