Re: Mordecai and Esther were evil

Following the sin in the Garden of Eden, God prophesied that the Savior would come through the woman, through Abraham, through Isaac, through Jacob, through King David, etc. He chose the Jewish people through which to bring the Scriptures, the Messiah, and the Gospel to the world. There were many at...

Re: Progressive Conservative Mennonite Churches

Joshbgood, I understand. I, too, seldom heard it preached on, and the one time I can remember, it had a Reformed slant. This concerns me. I feel like it has been avoided, because it can be difficult passage to understand. And because of the influence of Reformed theology in our culture, we tend to c...

Re: Progressive Conservative Mennonite Churches

Any good teacher of systematic theology will do just that, concluding with the case as to what is the Biblical position and why. I don’t think academic discussion is what the issue is. I think that a good teacher of theology will read what the Bible has to say on a topic, all that the Bible has to ...

Re: Television - Revelations

Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into h...

Re: Excellent and Balanced Discussion of the Reformation

When we pray the Lord's Prayer, we pray "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." There is a sense in which that takes place in the lives of His followers today. But within our hearts, as within the hearts of the prophets of old, remains a longing for something bett...

Re: Television - Revelations

Not to mention the Oral Tradition(s) of the One True Church(es). Certainly if they can tell us history of Mary's parents, what became of Zacheaus, the woman at the well & her sisters & their martyrdom, and much other history, how they could have missed Jesus' return - impossible There were ...

Re: Excellent and Balanced Discussion of the Reformation

I think that is a good discussion regarding the danger of sacralism. I consider Dr. White an excellent teacher on church history. He has a series posted on Sermon Audio. https://www.sermonaudio.com/sermons.asp?keyword=Church+History&group=&speaker=James+White For the most part, it is the mos...

Re: History, e-books and audio books

Neto, the copies of Menno's Works I had found so far were all John F. Funk's edition. But after looking some more I found these. http://www.mennosimons.net/completewritings.html - an online copy of Funk's edition without the errors https://store.mennomedia.org/Complete-Writings-of-Menno-Simonsp-P675...

History, e-books and audio books

For the past while I have been studying history: late OT, inter-testament, early church and reformation. Since I travel a fair amount in my work, I find that audio books are a good way for me to cover a lot of material. It is not as thorough as reading, but it gives me a good overview, and I can go ...
