Re: Spousal Influence

But in the personal realm, how much have you been influenced (in your thinking, your degree of 'conservativeness', etc) by your spouse? In your opinion, which has the greater influence, a wife, or a husband? (Obviously it depends on a lot of variable factors, but in general.) I think both my spouse...

Re: Stimulus Checks 2020

The Mennonites I relate to are die hard CO's to the point they returned their stimulus checks to the feds because they don't want to have to serve in any military capacity and they feel if they pocketed a government handout that they are beholden to the government if they are called upon in wartime...

Re: Church Service is Boring.... sorry

Best thing not to get bored is to actively participate. I have an active role on most Sundays, as I „moderate“ a service per month (i.e. opening statements, information about events, prayer with/for the brother who preaches, blessings a the end), and sing in the worship band once per month, and ser...

Re: Church Service is Boring.... sorry

I can identify with the OP. I do wonder if some of the problem is that church services are largely passive events. Most passive events require some newness or unique component in order to keep people engaged. Think sports, books, television. Sunday school invites more active participation but I’ve f...

Re: LGBTQ+ friends, family & coworkers?

That is part and parcel different from someone who is a man insisting that I use a woman's name to talk to him. The person you described above is sincerely a Muslim and I would have no difficulty at all affirming that. There is actually no difference at all. None whatsoever. In neither case it is e...

Re: Do “Transitional Anabaptist churches” fulfil the purpose of the church?

This whole conversation feels really gross. My spouse and I both grew up in Old Order churches. But not the same one. If we had both stayed then neither would have been allowed to marry each other. Not to mention that neither of us would be able to do our current jobs with either of the churches we ...

And this is part of the problem — the codependent relationship media and Trump have with each other.
The media needs to focus on Trump, in order to take the focus off Biden, as each day more corruption is being revealed involving Joe Biden and his crime family.
What was revealed today?

Re: How could transitional Anabaptists stop being that way?

It’s interesting that there are genetic consequences for not having outsiders join or marry in. I say that genetic disorders are sometimes a punishment for being to ingrown. But a minister in one such setting thought of it as a small price to pay for keeping the church separated from the world (and...

Re: How could transitional Anabaptists stop being that way?

Reidenbach definitely has actual cousin marriages, but outside of that group it’s usually kept to second cousins. In the world I come from, second and third cousins are considered "cousin marriage". Yeah I’m sure many would see it that way. I myself feel an unreasonable amount of pride in...

Re: How could transitional Anabaptists stop being that way?

Are you saying that Weaverland conference has German preaching? And that both Groffdale and Weaveland conferences condone cousin marriage? Because that is not my understanding. You're right, I was thinking of Groffdale (which, the last time I was around it, was either conducted in German, or they w...
