Re: May 11 2024 Freedom of Religion in the U.S.

I spent my weekend with a friend who is Catholic, and she and her boyfriend are currently “negotiating” as she would prefer to be a stay at home wife and he wants her to keep working even after she has kids. Note that she is college educated, independent, and with a “career” except she’s also not w...

Re: Marrying Someone With a Promiscuous Past

Therefore, it is not worth taking steps to mitigate a risk that is almost solely due to promiscuity. As far as girls marrying a guy with a promiscuous past… many (I’d say the majority) of girls in my church circles would be unwilling to do so. An interesting statement made by Josh caught my eye. I ...

Re: Nation-States

Prior to the nation state, many nations did exist which weren’t subject to any empire at all, although they might have relations with one or more empires. This was still common even in Europe in the 1500s. Going back to the pre-1000s (prior to the Norman invasion), Great Britain and Ireland was eff...

Re: May 11 2024 Freedom of Religion in the U.S.

If you’re planning to get divorced, then… #1, why get married at all? #2, having children when you intend to see them grow up in a broken home is intrinsically immoral. It isn't about planning for divorce. It is that the majority of young women want to be in egalitarian relationships rather than pa...

Re: HPV and Cancer link

It’s easier to have a fair debate if the numbers and books aren’t pre-cooked. I gave you sources for every number I cited. Which ones were "pre-cooked"? And you are welcome to present your own numbers and make your own arguments. I was responding to RZehr's argument that firearms pose a g...

Re: May 11 2024 Freedom of Religion in the U.S.

Perhaps the problem here is women who are planning to get divorced. Perhaps its not actually a "problem" and many young women (probably the majority) look at marriage from an egalitarian point of view rather than a patriarchal point of view. Over 2/3 of married women in the US work outsid...

Re: California Slingshot Shooter Arrested

My friend in school made a three-man slingshot. We could launch a water ballon a good way off, and accurate at that! You can buy them now on Amazon and in toy stores. I use them in physics classes to teach ballistics. More fun to go out to the football field and launch stuff than do it on paper in ...

Re: May 11 2024 Freedom of Religion in the U.S.

The single working women I know would much prefer to be married and be stay at home moms. Most single women I know take the opposite view. They might welcome marriage, but most would not be eager to give up their careers and place their future welfare in the hands of a man. Far too many women wind ...
