Free speech is dead here in Canada.
Misgendering someone or criticizing Justin can now land you in prison for life.

Re: Church Government Models

I know of churches that basically operate as: Direct Democracies Representative Democracies Democratic Republics Totalitarian Democracies Monarchies Autocracies Oligarchies Puppet states In each of the above, it is assumed that Jesus is the head of the church and that the Holy Spirit is working thr...

Re: Is it wrong to use nuclear bombs against civilians?

Waging wars of aggression is the ultimate wrong here. And also the ultimate war crime. As the Nuremburg Trials concluded: War is essentially an evil thing. Its consequences are not confined to the belligerent states alone, but affect the whole world. To initiate a war of aggression, therefore, is no...

Re: Another Barge/Bridge Collision

I suspect that had the Baltimore bridge accident not just happened, we would never have heard about this Texas bridge. It is a pretty minor 2-lane bridge connecting to a small island. And the damage isn't enormous. They have mostly closed the bridge out of precaution. So we are mostly hearing about ...

Re: Should negligent parents be punished by the law?

So just because numbers of teen pregnancies are down doesn't necessarily mean that teens are better off now than they were as it pertains to morality. We may not have a way to calculate the children's "better off" metrics from years ago currently, but if its done its going to have to take...

Ah, but you're comparing two different things. The chance of receiving a speeding ticket is significantly higher than the risk of accidentally killing someone by speeding. The correct analogy would be whether the fear of going to jail for involuntary manslaughter due to killing someone when speedin...

Are you suggesting that the possibility of ending up in prison is a stronger deterrent to you and have more of an impact on your behavior compared with an equal or greater probability that your child would die as a result of your behavior? Because if the death of your child is a worse than a prison...

Re: Is Biden Fit to be President?

What is the most concerning is how they claimed the stuff with Hunter and Ashley's diary wasn't true, when it actually was. It points to a complete lack of integrity. If they can't tell the truth about something like that, how can they be trusted on anything else? Who is the "they" you ar...

They aren't remotely comparable. The TX bridge is vastly smaller and simpler and the damage is far less

Re: Mennonite Girl ,3, swept over waterfalls,2 years ago, parents now charged

Wife: From the map we saw of where everything took place, it wasn't directly next to the waterfall, but a little upstream. Thus, the danger, although very real, was not as obvious as it would have been if they were right next to the cliff. The signs were there warning people of the hidden danger. A...
