Re: Poll: Daniel Perry - Should he have been pardoned?

Many people in these high crime hotspots, have long learned to not even bother calling the police either when it comes to certain crimes. In fact just recently a guy I know was violently assaulted in a large city, and when he tried to get the police to come take an assault report, they refused. It ...

Re: Should negligent parents be punished by the law?

Josh says nothing about the age of the unwed parents, and does not mention locking them up. Neither in the OP nor any of the subsequent posts. In fact, the OP asks what the punishment should be, rather than prescribing one. "Punishment by the law." which are the words used by Josh in the ...

Re: Is it wrong to use nuclear bombs against civilians?

Waging wars of aggression is the ultimate wrong here. And also the ultimate war crime. As the Nuremburg Trials concluded: War is essentially an evil thing. Its consequences are not confined to the belligerent states alone, but affect the whole world. To initiate a war of aggression, therefore, is n...

Re: Poll: Daniel Perry - Should he have been pardoned?

Note that big cities like L.A. and NYC stopped reporting crime statistics to the FBI. Consequently, statistics show that crime is down, since the biggest, most dangerous cities aren't reporting anymore. That is a different issue from whether NYC and LA report crime statistics in their cities. They ...

Re: Should negligent parents be punished by the law?

They're 40% of the problem. Is 40% of the problem not worth solving? I think both having children outside of wedlock should be severely curtailed and punished, and getting divorced should be too. Yes. Keeping unwed teenagers from getting pregnant is most definitely a worthy problem worth solving. T...

The notion was that it's their own child and they've already suffered a great deal because of that. I really do not understand how some people can't see this... So if I kill someone else's child but I feel really really REALLY bad about it then I should be get off the hook because I'm suffering too?

Re: Justice

Ken, The topic was justice, and I specifically brought up murder and how to avoid it. Other deaths such as your alleged deaths from not getting vaccinated (my opinion is that those vaccines cause more deaths than they present) is, well, offtopic. Try to stay on topic. A lot of people don't want to ...

Re: Justice

So being murdered by a complete stranger is exceedingly rare. 2000 people being murdered each year in the US is not something I would call "exceedingly rare". I know of people who have been murdered by strangers. No? How does that compare to some other forms of death. How about COVID? To ...

I haven't seen any vengeance here. But a call for justice and punishment. Which is unusual. I'm not calling for punishment without knowing more about the details of this case. Perhaps they merit conviction, perhaps they don't. That is what the trial is for. I do think it is appropriate for society ...

Re: Justice

If you're careful (like me) to make sure that nobody who knows you wants to kill you, then the main way someone like me will get murdered is by a stranger. So despite Ken claiming it's "exceedingly rare", it's the biggest risk I face. No it isn't the biggest risk of death that you face. T...
