Re: The first Christian Church was Jewish

Yes and no. It was handed down orally until around 70 AD, when they began to write it down.

Re: Poll: Jewelry, Rings, and Bands

I would be interested on the pagan background of wedding bands. I don‘t wear one nor does my wife. On the other hand my wife wears some jewelry which I do not see as a problem as long as it is not loud/ostentatious (is that a word?).

Re: People who secretly disobey church teachings.

Ananias and Saphira were not killed because they did not share the entire proceeds from the sale of their land but because they pretended they did share the entire proceeds when they didn‘t.

Re: Cuisines from around the world!

I guess I had all of those albeit only the Tex Mex variant of Mexican food (unless a Quesadilla in Pacific Beach, CA counts as authentic) and Emigrant Turkish (the ubiquitous Döner Kebab). All of these have great elements but Italian is very hard to beat.

Edit: where‘s German and Swiss?

Re: Let's talk nuts!

I love all nuts plus they are mad healthy. Walnuts are a good source of Omega 3 fatty acids and Brazil nuts have a ridicolous amount of Selenium, three or four of them will get you your daily dose. What a great resource our God gave us in these fruits.

Re: The Church of God Movement

Question - regarding who to fellowship with in a local church In Matthew 13:24-30 we have the parable of the weeds. Verse 30 NKJV ends with - Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to ...

Re: The Church of God Movement

That sounded familiar. Our church has its origins at the same time, mixing anabaptist and holiness elements (among others), claiming to reflect early church practice (it‘s even called Apostolic Christian Church in the US), and the founder (Bro. S. H. Fröhlich) initially also stated he never wanted t...

Re: Generations of Born Agains

My great great grandfather converted in a late 19 century tent evangelization thing. Great grandfather trained as Methodist preacher but serviced Free Evangelical Churches (that’s not the same thing in Europe as in the US). My Grandfather was Ältester in one of these churches, which my parents still...
