I think most have caught on...
I'm just saying that a simple ring banning is a superfluous argument. There is no cause for it really, except to just make a rule. Any woman or man wearing a simple band would not be in biblical sin.

Re: Would a moderate conservate Mennonite chuch (Like Beachy Amish) allow the prodigal son to be a member?
Would the prodigal son who received a ring from the Father be allowed to be a member in your church with the ring on his finger?

Re: Would a moderate conservate Mennonite chuch (Like Beachy Amish) allow the prodigal son to be a member?
It's fun and games until you hear of young wives being harassed, said "hey baby" to, and followed through stores. And yes, I've heard this from Beachy Amish women. But my question stands, which EVERYBODY avoided. Could the prodigal son be a member in your church with the ring the father pu...

Re: Would a moderate conservate Mennonite chuch (Like Beachy Amish) allow the prodigal son to be a member?
That said, through the years, I've heard stories for 4 different Beachy Amish sisters in Christ who got harassed at the store by some "weirdo" men. Typically, most men would run for the hills when they see all the religious garb. However some may see the band too and leave alone. Then the...

Re: The immorality of engagement rings
A popular belief in worldly circles is that a man should buy his fiancée an engagement ring. Let us look deeper into this practice. The diamond trade has sordid origins involving apartheid, slavery, war, and blatant racism. But diamonds for engagement rings are fairly new custom which started in th...

Re: Would a moderate conservate Mennonite chuch (Like Beachy Amish) allow the prodigal son to be a member?
My husband and I have friends who wear a wedding ring, and neither of us think that makes them any less Christian than us, but they also don't assume we are unchristian for not wearing one. If you have the same concept, then that’s fine, but some people are reading you to say that not wearing one i...

Re: Would a moderate conservate Mennonite chuch (Like Beachy Amish) allow the prodigal son to be a member?
Are Anabaptists just wiggling and squirming their way out of this verse, putting it off, or trying not to recognize what happened in order to continue the "system"? I've heard directly from the source people mis-judged by outsiders of "shacking up" basically, who were married. I...

Re: Would a moderate conservate Mennonite chuch (Like Beachy Amish) allow the prodigal son to be a member?
I have not encountered this idea, either. Growing up (non-plain) we had many forms of plain people around us and I never heard anyone in the community surmise that the plain people were not married due to the lack of wedding bands. I could imagine the scenario where a new outreach was started and l...

Re: Would a moderate conservate Mennonite chuch (Like Beachy Amish) allow the prodigal son to be a member?
When we repent out of our filth and come to the Lord in conversion, we are then part of the bride of Christ. When the prodigal son repented and came to the Lord, he was also given a ring, and was part of the bride of Christ. Do we so much want to avoid this? A $10 ring would allow the world to under...
