Re: What will happen soon

Those of you who think the house of Saud is making major cultural changes are simply wrong. I know many Saudis. My Arabic is poor, my wife and one son’s are fluent If you talk to people you realize the religious extremists do not need t9 be the majority, just a sufficient number to keep the nation l...

Re: Lent and Ash Wednesday

I was clear I hve no objection to those that view Good Friday as a normal day, and those that view it as a holiday. Did you hve trouble with those simple words or does your virulent anti Catholicism blind you completely. I objected to their choice of how to use the day to “shove it in the face” of t...

Re: What will happen soon

I do not agree about secularism being on the march in the house of Saud. The secular government of Arabia has made a pact with Wahhabism that I cannot see ever ending. The problem with fanatics is once you give over a significant percentage of the population to it, you can never come back. Too many ...

Re: Why should Christians vote in elections.... ?

Ken,

Your views on politics explains much.
For example, how one day Maryknoll nuns are teaching poor children and the next they are carrying guns for Communist rebels.
It’s a slippery slope, but always heads downward.

Re: Nonviolence?

Pacifism encourages a peaceful protest that I think is inconsistent with true Anabaptist traditions and theology.
An opinion, but one I think is accurate and points at how Anabaptist thought has been corrupted by it’s more liberal members.

Re: Lent and Ash Wednesday

I always was particularly annoyed by one Mennonite family that did Roofing and would particularly schedule a very visible location to do work on Good Friday to prove their point of view on not observing holidays. I do not presume to have the perfect answer on the subject but I am pretty sure Jesus i...

Re: Nonviolence?

Anabaptists should not be pacifists. They should be non resistant.

Re: Does the "Charity Church" really exist anymore?

I was respectful of the folks I knew going to Charity. Most wanted the right thing.
One of Charity’s weaknesses was too many from too many different places.
Eastern suffers from too few.

Finding the right mix and how one can even make that happen is beyond me.

Re: Does the "Charity Church" really exist anymore?

I confess, I had not given deep thought to Charity (my experience was the core one ) in years. I presume that both Denny Kenaston and Mose Stoltzfus have passed away? I knew many non Amish homeschool types who joined or flirted with Charity. I was always uncomfortable with the group based on how sup...
