Re: They call it a NEV -- a Neighborhood Electric Vehicle

Well, that's a matter of breaking the law and not using common sense. I saw a young guy zooming down our street on an electric scooter recently, and as with bicycles on paved hiking trails zipping around people and dogs, accidents will happen if people aren't careful. Each method of transportation h...

Re: They call it a NEV -- a Neighborhood Electric Vehicle

I was glad to see that Amish in Holmes County are allowed to use e-bikes now. Those hills are pretty steep for a regular bicycle. So in the cold and rain, travel time is mercifully shortened.

I'm not sure I agree with that. Do we not as Christians have a responsibility toward those we love if we see them choosing a dangerous path?

Re: Why do Westerners convert to Islam?

Conversion to Islam is a practice which is common to African-Americans in prison. J. Michael Waller found that Muslim inmates comprise 17–20% of the prison population, or roughly 350,000 inmates in 2003. Waller states that these inmates mostly come into prison as non-Muslims. According to him, 80% ...

Re: Bunny Trails

I think that was the one I drove across, years ago. But it wasn't as scary as the Jacksonville, FL, bridge, which has quite a rise in elevation, and the first time, it was very windy. You'd better believe I did some praying!

Re: Church good at evangelization

Work ethic. One fact that impressed me in the story of Joseph in Egypt is that Potipher could see Who was guiding his slave. Now his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD made all that he did prosper in his hand. [Gen 39:3 NASB20] And even in prison, his behavior reflected integrit...

Re: Church good at evangelization

Reading through the thread, I noticed the discussion about evangelisation on the job but there is a concern whether the employer feels it is inappropriate on “company time”. I wonder: when a Christian sets the example of a diligent work ethic as well as caring for his fellow workers, that can be co...

Today I found out that I had ancestors on both sides of my grandparents, on the Mayflower. My eighth great-grandfather was actually born on the Mayflower in Plymouth Bay. Also learned that the first group--the Separatists--named the two groups of passengers the Saints and the Strangers (I half expe...
