Re: How could transitional Anabaptists stop being that way?

In my church, a congregation of Hope Mennonite Fellowship, my analysis came up with the following points of origin of our membership: 32% Hope Mennonite Fellowship 32% Washington/Franklin Mennonite Conference 12% Other Mennonite 8% Pilgrim Mennonite Conference 8% Eastern PA Mennonite Conference 4% ...

Re: How could transitional Anabaptists stop being that way?

And guess what, Eastern is functioning just like the Holdeman's and Herrites in the 1800's and is pulling people in from the Old Colony Mennonites in Bolivia. It rhymes with history.

Re: How could transitional Anabaptists stop being that way?

How could Mennonites stop being transitional? The Holdeman's, Horning, Charity, Pilgrim should stop setting up camp in Old Order communities or in the case of Pilgrim, an Old Mennonite community. When John and Frances Herr along with John Holdeman in Ohio left the Old Mennonite church, it sowed a lo...

Re: Kingdom Fellowship Weekend 2023

If you go, you might end up ministering to such a person yourself. Hmmm, I think I would address the speakers. As I recall the speaker authored several books that I read...and they were overall positive about the group he researched, but when I spoke with him at AIC he gave the present day group a ...

You can be assured that CAM would stop working with Holdemans as well if I tried to go and volunteer with them... participation from someone such as myself and my family would not be tolerated.
So sad when we're this tribal. No wonder you no longer feel comfortable with the Swiss Mennos

Re: Kingdom Fellowship Weekend 2023

I have been to KFW once and won't be returning. A lot of nice people who are on fire, but they can't figure out how to get their fires to burn together. It's actually quite sad.

We love to put labels and pretend we have everyone figured out.
Labels keep things tidy and plain people love tidiness. But using terms such as intermediate conservative, ultra conservative, etc make my eyes glaze over.

Re: Transitional Anabaptist churches

Theologically the Holdeman's and Reformed Mennonites are identical twins. However, the Reformed Menno's are not a transitional group picking up members from Old Order communities. And they have not embraced evangelical notions like revival meetings... The Holdeman revival format is entirely differe...

Re: Transitional Anabaptist churches

Josh, you say Eastern is transitional but Weaverland is not. That's wrong. Weaverland has shifted left in the last 40 years and Eastern has shifted right. Weaverland's internet policy is more lenient than Eastern. Some Weaverland young people go to Faith Builders which would never be allowed by Eas...
