Re: Mennonite Girl ,3, swept over waterfalls,2 years ago, parents now charged
Goodness, I cannot imagine losing a child in such a tragic accident and then getting charged by the state with criminal neglect.

Re: Autocrat vs Institutionalist
I chose "Something Else," and if this is a copout, or too close to "Institutionalism," feel free to call me out. I choose "DEMOCTRATIC" - Leadership prioritizes 2-way democracy: strong, clear, frequent communication with all the people, mixed with more frequent governan...

Love needs action = yes.
Trust needs proof = no.
Sorry needs change = yes.

Re: Failed: Pastor Shooting Attempt - Western PA
Someone approached the preacher with a gun, but the gun jammed. Someone tackled the would-be attacker anyway. I like that God is trying to show that faith in Him and perseverance in His Way is the most powerful antidote to violence.

"I'm in a lot of distress and I feel comfortable letting you know about it because you're my closest friends. But don't get yourselves down; don't let yourself get as distressed as I. I'm gonna endure a lot of things worth getting distressed over, but you will be kept safe, that I know. It's my...

Re: Political office
I am also baffled why delivering prescriptions to people in very remote rural areas requires also delivering pornography to people’s houses. The two don’t seem connected at all. In the context of working as a mail carrier for the USPS, yes, one requires the other, if both are being delivered. Becau...

Re: Political office
An oath is really nothing more than an oral contract. I promise that both UPS and FedEx require written employment contracts that are much more extensive than the oral oath expected of postal workers. It seems to me like a distinction without a difference. Whether one affirms one's agreement with t...

Re: Political office
Yes; historically, anabaptists have shunned the idea of a Christian serving the state in any authoritative role. There are a few reasons for this. First, the state is the entity that bears the sword, and is an avenger of evil (see Romans 13). The Christian is called to lay down the sword, and to not...

Re: Distinguishing Mountains from Molehills
This might be controversial, but I would draw a line between doctrines, not based on how important they are, but by how certain I think we can be of them from scripture. There are some things that seem very clear and straightforward, others seem to be open to some interpretation. Zwingli's stance ag...

Re: Distinguishing Mountains from Molehills
I have to weigh more thought on how to judge different "tiers" of doctrine. But I have put a lot of thought into weighing out "tiers" of praxis. I think I would define 3 or 4 tiers of praxis. First off, there are two different types of praxis: obedience to a command and applicati...
