Re: Pilgrim Mennonite Conference current events
When Pilgrimsplit from EPMC they would NEVER have supported a web page. Not judging but clearly their standards have moved sufficiently from Eastern that some are not happy….hence the creation of Northeast Conference The Internet didn't exist in the way we think of it today in 1991. It's curious to...

Re: Sattler College Turmoil
Boston isn't a cheap place to have a university, but I don't think their grads would be getting into top medical schools if their school was in Holmes County Ohio. A place like Boston has unique opportunities for internships and networking.

Re: Pilgrim Mennonite Conference current events
I can't help but think the history of splits in Pilgrim have something to do with this decision. The founding congregations of Pilgrim were from the Lebanon district of EPMC. The founding congregations of Northeast were mostly in New York and northern PA.

Re: Switching denominations
Knowing someone's level of education (I would include informal), you can make an educated guess about what denomination they might choose. Someone with less education is more likely to choose Southern Baptists, Pentecostal, non-denom community church Someone who is more education generally more like...

Re: Sheetz hit with federal discrimination lawsuit
What happens if the government wins this case? I have no idea. Perhaps a fine that could be appealed. More likely my guess is that they settle and enter into a consent decree in which Sheetz agrees to change its hiring practices. And that will become a marker for other firms to comply with. The fac...

Re: 2/3 of Roman Catholic Churches in Baltimore to close
The priest shortage is probably a factor as well. Being a church leader used to be a high-status position, but now it's low-status which makes celibacy a harder sell. The molestation scandal in the Catholic Church makes being a priest especially unpopular.

Re: Worldbook Encyclopedia Censorship Topics
I wasn't able to find contact information, but there is a conservative Mennonite guy who downloaded Wikipedia onto a flash drive and censored topics conservative Mennonites find objectionable. It costs around $120.

The Sharps keep a low profile (which I think is admirable), but circumstance evidence suggests they are Mennonite or have Mennonite background. They support Everence and Lancaster Mennonite School.Judas Maccabeus wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2024 7:43 pm Is Sharp Shopper Mennonite owned? I only see them in areas with a large plain population.

Firefox ESR says it supports Windows 7

Also based on a little bit of Internet research, Waterfox Classic still works with Windows 7.

Re: Browser for Windows 7?
Apparently my chickens are coming home to roost. Started this morning, that if I tried to open certain pages on threads here, I get kicked out of the browser (not just MennoNet). This evening it started to happen on other sites as well. I have been using Brave for personal stuff, but after it start...
