Re: Mennonet and politics

I don't hate Donald Trump. I think he makes a poor president but life is too short to hate him. I do find this sort of obsession with him by the Evangelical right to be distasteful, but thankfully, most Mennos don't practice this sort of thing: https://wp-media.patheos.com/blogs/sites/430/2019/12/T...

Re: Non-profit & faith-based addiction centers?

Steve, I don't know Shepherd's Fold that well, but I would not recommend them. Their counselors are untrained and believe that the Bible has the answers to all problems. The former long-time director was involved in some form of misconduct. It’s actually worse than you can imagine. My foster mom ha...

Re: Preparing for a Joe Biden Presidency

This thread has taken a turn this evening that reminds me of the following quote from Thomas Woods: There are only two (major) parties today: The Stupid Party and The Evil Party. Once in awhile the two parties get together to do something that is both stupid and evil, and that’s called Bipartisanshi...

Re: Preparing for a Joe Biden Presidency

In the prior 4 years, disruption, vandalism, violence has been not only the way of libs, but the protected+enabled, tolerated, forgiven, even in law. As much in law as they’re able to maneuver - for themselves. They want laws to particularly reward+protect themselves above others. O. How much worse...

Re: Preparing for a Joe Biden Presidency

The whole of politics is so much like an adult version of the way my kids discuss Fords and Chevys, or any other corporate brands and companies. They cling to whatever nugget of fact that supports their favored brand, and research to win arguments, but none of them actually can drive, let alone buy...

Re: Preparing for a Joe Biden Presidency

Reading through this thread reminds me of Jeremiah 4: 22, “For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.”

Re: Pelosi Gets Her Hair Done Illegally.

The other stylist rents space in a salon as is fairly normal apparently. Should Pelosi have known? Was it dumb to get caught out like that in this political environment? Certainly. Folks, we may have completely overlooked an obvious explanation that was hiding in plain sight. Depending on Speaker P...

Re: Is cloning spiritually and morally ethical?

I believe you need to start with whether or not you believe in the Sanctity of human life. If you do, it will affect your view from Conception to end of life and everything in-between, and would definitely include the ethics of cloning.

Re: Poll: Concealed Weapons among Plain Anabaptists?

I’m always intrigued how horrified Mennonites are over a concealed weapon, while being willing to commit non-physical violence at the drop of a hat. I owe you breakfast next time you're in the area. This has become a personal hangup of mine when it comes to conservative folks and their sour attitud...
