A great analogy for Anabaptist church/state understanding
Putting aside the political figures discussed or this former pastor's Nov vote choice, I thought his analogy of ambassadorship was very good... I'm not sure what branch of Christianity he comes from, but he almost sounds like an Anabaptist. The ambassador for Christ analogy occupies about the middle...

Re: “Former government lawyers say we need to limit the president's ability to deploy U.S. troops at home”
I guess this isn't related to the OP question... but tangentially related? But why would anyone want to give a president more 'immunity from criminal charges!' when the guy their arguing for isn't in office anymore, but the other guy/president (who they detest and fear and believe is really bad!) is...

Re: Will the issues you care about be priorities for a Trump-family run RNC?
Whataboutism... This thread is about Trump & family. And no, Biden doesn't have anything close to the legal bills that Trump has incurred upon himself. Not a good, factual like-for-like comparison, imho. LOL...Chiding those who compare Trump to Biden in the first sentence. Next sentence does ex...

Re: A letter I sent my senators, please consider similar.
Has anyone read this The Best Way to Regulate Social Media... and what do you think of the author's suggestion? I think it is too clever by half and would be ineffective due to the algorithmic nature of social media. In other words, because of the algorithms and interactive nature of social media, ...

Re: “Former government lawyers say we need to limit the president's ability to deploy U.S. troops at home”
It seems like a “clause” one can drive a truck through, where every single thing ends up subject to federal jurisdiction, which is very much the opposite of what we know the intent of the framers was. There was considerable debate there. Jefferson’s ideas largely lost out. Yes, and now we have a ga...

Re: Tennessee: Gun Owner Financial Privacy Legislation Headed to Governor Lee
It wasn’t legislation; it was pressure on the payment card providers to implement a change. So detail the "pressure"... How was it done or is being done? Who is pressuring? What is the "it" and what does "pressure" mean? We'd like to know. It's your assertion. Show us ...

Re: A letter I sent my senators, please consider similar.
Rather than banning TikTok, make it illegal for young people under the age of at least 18-21 to produce content for social media of any sort. Looking at other's content isn't a big thing. But to produce content requires a bit of maturity and introspection beyond the average middle-schooler or even ...
