Re: Trend towards Reformed theology in BMA
It seems to me that Calvinists intellectualize to much. They don't think from their hearts, which is the part of us that is closest to God and is more trustworthy than our evil imagination. Really????? The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? At the bottom o...

Re: Trend towards Reformed theology in BMA
[An illustration: If you had a crush on a certain person, and there really was such a thing as a 'love potion', and you used it on your crush, and so they 'fell in love with you', is that really love? Would you be satisfied with having someone 'love' you who was forced in that way? Is that love at ...

Re: Trend towards Reformed theology in BMA
I wonder how CMC is making out regarding being influenced by the reformed movement in Evangelicalism. Are they still fundamentally mostly Anabaptist in theology?

Re: Trend towards Reformed theology in BMA
The reformed theology influence is strong. It comes from, among other things the influences of the founders, one of which was Baptist background. Wayne Grudem's Systematic Theology is an anchor text at their Bible School. I have heard sermons from influential leaders explaining how everything that ...

Re: Trend towards Reformed theology in BMA
Our very own undershepherd here might be able to comment further; BMA in general is heavily influenced by mainstream evangelical culture, which in turn has the bulk of its intellectual heavy lifting done from the reformed wing of things. Hopefully undershepherd will see this thread and comment. I r...

Re: Trend towards Reformed theology in BMA
I confess I would be very unhappy if BMA is being influenced by Reformed theology. My father and two of my sisters attend BMA services. I have a great dislike for Calvinism and would hate to see some of my family going in that direction.

Trend towards Reformed theology in BMA
Lately I've seen several comments from different people on Mennonet that BMA is trending towards Reformed theology/Calvinism. I have a family member who is ordained in BMA. I asked him about this supposed trend and he doesn't know anything about it. What do other people who attend BMA know about thi...

I have a family member who is ordained in the BMA. He doesn't know anything about any supposed trend toward Reformed/Calvinism in BMA. Where did you hear this rumour about BMA?Josh wrote:“Covenant”... is there a possible lean in a Reformed direction, much like is happening in BMA?
