Anyway I'm just rambling on but would love to hear more thoughts from others on this. Do you know personally of an unchurched person who became a Christian and quickly experienced radical changes in their lives ?
That should be a thread all in its own! 8-)
Me.

Re: Morals & ethics behind supporting certain mission efforts?

This subject should be spun off into its own thread. I see both Sightist's point and Josh's, both at the same time. I'm not gonna fight about it. Josh is absolutely right that nobody quits until they hit rock bottom. He is also right that drug use is a choice. I doubt very much that he's correct wh...

Re: Mennonite Girl ,3, swept over waterfalls,2 years ago, parents now charged

Goodness, I cannot imagine losing a child in such a tragic accident and then getting charged by the state with criminal neglect. It is likely child neglect. That about sums it up. Like giving your child a dangerous tool unsupervised, or leaving your child in a closed car, especially in summer. What...

... or girls, for that matter :D This is aimed towards parents with adult children (age 18 and over). How much of an influence did you have when it came to your child's choice in life partner? Did you attempt to influence them towards certain ones? Interfere and refer them away from others? Did you...

Re: The Israeli state?

And is full of a combination of essentially atheistic seculars and believers in a made up religion that was posited as a replacement for the true religion that God prescribed, commonly called Rabbinic Judaism. One of the more interesting groups are the Samaritans - all 900 of them. About half are i...

Re: “Five-fold ministry”?

How does the "Five-Fold" Gospel compare to the "Four Square" Gospel? Foursquare refers to four aspects of Christ's ministry: Savior, Sanctifier (or in some versions Baptizer), Healer, and King. The "trademark" of the group I was involved with for some thirty years, the...

Re: The Israeli state?

My perspective is that many Israelites accepted Christ and indeed created what is now the church. They were the first Christians. The unbelievers perished in 70 AD when the temple was destroyed, never to be rebuilt again. The continuation of “Israel” in the church and Christians, going all the way ...

Re: “Five-fold ministry”?

Is this teaching associated with a particular denomination? Is it found across denominations? In current usage, it's generally a charismatic/NAR concept. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apostolic-Prophetic_Movement Yeah, that is where I heard it as well. Derick Prince, C. Peter Wagner, and the like. ...

I am. I am posing a hypothetical, but logical consequence of such a position. I speak only for myself.

Re: Morals & ethics behind supporting certain mission efforts?

Unfortunately, that's the best you can do for someone in that situation. I've hit a point where I don't think enabling an addiction is doing good at all. That's why I like working with places that have rather strict rules, so I know the help will actually be helping. The places and programs that I ...
