Mennonite in Supreme Court Case?
I'm just curious about the court case on religious freedom being heard by the Supreme Court this coming Tuesday. The issue is regarding a postal worker in southern Lancaster County, Gerald Groff, who refused to work on Sundays. The link below indicates he was a former Mennonite missionary. Does anyo...

median Mennonite
A friend of mine told me that the median U.S. Mennonite is Horning. In other words, if every Mennonite in the US were to stand in a line based on a spectrum of church membership from liberal to conservative, the median Mennonite would be Horning. This is not counting our Amish brothers and sisters w...

Re: Poll: Bribing
There are a number of Bible verses about the dangers and problems with receiving bribes. However, the poll was framed in terms of whether it is wrong to GIVE bribes. That seems to be a different matter. Solomon indicates their effectiveness: Proverbs 17:8 - A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes ...

Re: Help me list all Homeschool only churches
Homeschooling is often the only viable option financially for large families. Private Christian schools are prohibitively expensive. I belong to a congregation that thankfully does not have a church school. I would worry about the pressure to conform by paying tuition. It would seem elitist to look ...

Re: Modern day Israel
Romans 9-11 seems pretty clear in declaring that the Lord still has a role for Israel separate from the church. The church is the audience and they are being told that someday Israel will be saved. So, the Israel of the New Testament is not the church.

Re: A poll for violence and July 4
Andrew Johnson and Ulysses Grant both owned slaves before the war. If the U.S. had remained a series of British colonies, slavery would have ended on this soil prior to the 1860s - without a war. So, it's hard for me to get excited about American independence. However, I do enjoy watching large-scal...

Re: Your Preferred Bible Version
I like the attention to the plural "you" given in the KJV. "Ye and you" are plural while "thee and thou" are singular. So, when Jesus is speaking to Nicodemus alone at night and says "ye must be born again," this is a message for everyone, not just one individ...
