Re: Mordecai and Esther were evil

Drat, and here I thought Purim was a safe alternative to celebrate for the kids! Time to appropriate a different holiday, I guess... I would feel uncomfortable with the traditional part of a Purim celebration where all the Gentiles being killed is celebrated. Doesn’t feel appropriate for an ...

Re: War in Gaza

I really haven't seen much of anyone excusing Hamas or their atrocities. However, at this point, Israel's casualties of Palestinian civilians they have killed far exceeds whatever Hamas killed in October. Have you noticed Palestinian, or their supporters, rebuking Hamas? i don’t see that. i’m not p...

I'm curious if anyone else has heard of these, or is considering attend...

Re: Poll: Jewelry, Rings, and Bands

I would agree with other posters; the way I've taken the verses referring to gold/pearls/etc was in the context of not being ostentatious or showy. When my husband and I first got engaged, I worked and went to college in a very secular environment, and it was important to him that I have a clear tok...

Re: The Cloud of Witnesses - the MennoNet Wall

If I'm not mistaken, today marks one year since Wayne left us. One year from yesterday. Hey all. A lot has happened in the last year. Mom (Betty) moved next door, as you probably know. We're all still "on the road to find out". My sister got married. My husband and I welcomed our third an...

Re: The gate was left ajar for me

Continuing the "off topic" bit, but recorded worship music has been an incredible gift to me in low times when I've been too ill to attend services. One such example would be while I was in the hospital this past week, and struggling horribly with depression and anxiety. Tuning into songs ...

Re: Valentine's Day 2021 (for the ladies)

My birthday was yesterday, so it sort of melds with Valentines. My husband gets me flowers intended for both, and we might make a special meal tomorrow, but that's about it.

Re: Reddit Menno Mask question

Generally speaking, plain people as a whole are not buying into the mask thing. The government did itself no favours by banning singing and church en masse; overall, plain people are reverting to their general behaviour towards governments for most of their existence (governments trying to ban / ou...
