Re: Occupations that are uniquely objectionable to Conservative Anabaptists

I'd be happy if they just banned spray paint nationwide. The convenience it provides doesn't outweigh the enormous cost of cleaning up graffiti across the country. There are other ways to apply paint including spray guns that work much better anyway. That would take half the fun away from watching ...

Re: Occupations that are uniquely objectionable to Conservative Anabaptists

I wouldn’t sell spray cans of paint in an area with major graffiti problems. I BUY spray paint in an area with a major graffiti problem. Flat black to coat the insides of my students telescopes. Supposed to ask for ID, over 21. For some odd reason, I can't recall ever being asked. Around here it is...

Re: Occupations that are uniquely objectionable to Conservative Anabaptists

How? What do church politics have to do with it? Who has access to what on the internet. Trying to filter and moderate this would be like trying to herd cats. For myself if I were running something like that I could probably salve my conscience sufficiently by implementing a commercially available ...

Re: Occupations that are uniquely objectionable to Conservative Anabaptists

Wow. That would be a tough one for me personally. If I started such a business, I think I would feel morally responsible to put some sort of filter on it. There is no way I could administrate something like that. I can see that becoming its own flavor of church politics. Basically "pay to play...

Re: Occupations that are uniquely objectionable to Conservative Anabaptists

I don't think anybody has commented yet on to what extent CAs would be OK with being an internet service provider. Could this be considered similar to any other IT job - selling and servicing computers and networking? Wow. That would be a tough one for me personally. If I started such a business, I...

Re: Occupations that are uniquely objectionable to Conservative Anabaptists

What about the Hornings and Joe Wengers and their baseball leagues? Or is that not a thing anymore? I don't know much about them. My statements were generalisations - the more conservative the group, the less comfortable they are with organised sports. That was huge when I was driving Joe Wengers a...

Re: Occupations that are uniquely objectionable to Conservative Anabaptists

Professional or amateur sports? No plain Anabaptist would be OK with being a professional athlete. Most conservative Anabaptists wouldn't be OK with amateur sports like playing in college or the Olympics. Most (but not quite as many) conservative Anabaptists wouldn't be ok with organised sports at ...

I'm sure his bishop will have rise for concern over the fact he was three sheets to the wind when he did this.

Favorite hard candy?

I saw a report some time back stating that Starlight Mints, Atomic Fireballs and Fruit Disc Hard Candy were American's top three favorite hard candies. I disagree.

Two words: Jolly Ranchers 8-)
