Re: Sattler College Turmoil

Solid post JAHertz, but reading through the Sword and Trumpet correspondence I think both parties could be seen as committing the error you describe, mechanising theology to reconcile tensions in the scriptures that might be best left as tensions. Tension holds up buildings and bridges, it has it's...

Re: Sattler College Turmoil

So therefor it follows that one who is not”born “ is not saved. You are deliberately trying to obscure your view that an unbaptized person is not saved. Someone who is not born does not live. Once again, I will repeat Josh’s question. Yes or no. No weasel words please. I'm spending an awful amount ...

Re: Sattler College Turmoil

The position you describe above departs quite heavily from the baptismal regeneration view exposited from FotW in the S&T articles; I'm echoing FOTW's position in the S&T articles which say that just as life doesn't begin at birth, so spiritual life doesn't begin at baptism. Life begins at ...

Re: Sattler College Turmoil

Which position does FotW hold? “Baptism is required for salvation”. vs “It is possible for someone to be saved before they are baptised.” Once again, we believe that salvation is a process. We have been saved, we are being saved, and we shall be saved. So, I believe both statements above. Baptism I...

Re: Sattler College Turmoil

Which position does FotW hold? “Baptism is required for salvation”. vs “It is possible for someone to be saved before they are baptised.” See, in my denomination, the criteria for salvation isn’t unclear or ambiguous. Belief in Jesus’ offer of free salvstiin, and then a desire to accept that free g...

Re: Sattler College Turmoil

No, I simply do not accept the crowdsourced definition in Wikipedia. Here is what is said on the International Church of Christ Website: "We believe anyone, anywhere who follows God’s plan of salvation in the Bible and lives under the Lordship of Jesus, will be saved. Christians are saved by t...

Re: Sattler College Turmoil

My definition of regeneration is quite correct. So it seems it's to be the second option then. Except that what's in dispute here is not the definition of the word "regeneration," but of the phrase "baptismal regeneration." From here on out, let's all try to leave the goal posts...

Re: Sattler College Turmoil

Terms DO have meaning. I am not going to stand by and let you alter standard definitions without pointing that out. Your friend is running down a clearly illogical argument. Ah, I think I see the source of your confusion now. You are seemingly under the impression that some people in this discussio...
