Re: "Make America Great Again" - now a song for churches
Unfortunately, some churches in the U.S. have blended politics and religion so thoroughly that it is very hard to go to church without hearing politically biased statements. They have essentially created a new religion. I used to attend churches like that and it upset me because of the way they seem...

Re: "Make America Great Again" - now a song for churches
I do not like the connotations of the phrase and how it is being used lately. I wonder if the churches that would sing this understand the triggers this phrase and the present environment cause for people.

Re: Christian News Consumers Handbook
In this country we have freedom of press, but I really feel there should be some responsibility for people. This post brings up so much I have noticed that our media gets wrong. In the rush to get the story first things are reported wrong. This lives forever on the internet and ruins people's lives....

Re: Non-resistance does not mean silence
Well, I can say I did not know what was going on in this thread until things were brought up. I did not realize what happened in another thread since I have not been on in a few weeks. I think it is easy when there is an issue to become defensive and think everything said is some passive aggressive ...

Re: Non-resistance does not mean silence
I have witnessed in Anabaptist circles where someone would say something completely racist and no one said anything. They just looked around at us for a reaction, and looked uncomfortable. We said something but we are NMBs. We asked why and we were told that it was to avoid confrontation. However, I...

Re: Why are we afraid of Physical Affection?
I have always felt awkward with physical affection especially public. I did not want my Mom hugging me growing up. Since, I became a mother I do hug my children but not all the time. My husband is the affectionate one. It was definitely not my upbringing as I said my Mom was affectionate. I think it...

Re: Living With The Amish Youtube Series
Amish are all over the place on instruments these days- well you have Old Order, New Order, New New Order, and New New New Order- (oh and the stricter like Swartzentruber & Dan's Amish) so I wonder what they think of such a variety of differences? How does one explain that- in groups where they...

Re: Living With The Amish Youtube Series
Video 3: The girls and boys were split between houses this time. The boys stayed with a diary farmer and the girls stayed on a chicken farm. The headphone situation happened right away. If I remember, correctly at each home the teens were told in the beginning what was allowed at that community. For...

Re: New Executive Order for Religious Liberty
Let's remember that less than a year ago, there was serious talk of forcing churches and church run schools to make sure transsexuals who present as female to use the women's restroom. The left has no interest at all in maintaining any separation of church and state. True. In fact many would like t...

Re: New Executive Order for Religious Liberty
i just hope there aren't dire unintended consequences. I think the consequences are intended. Dire? That would probably be an exaggeration. But I don't see how this can be good. After all, with large Republican majorities in both houses and a Republican president, if this were defensible, they coul...
