Re: Francis Scott Key Bridge Collapse
So what were the original guesses on how long it would take them to get the harbor back open? Yesterday was exactly 2 months since the bridge collapsed https://twitter.com/WhiteHouse/status/1783854978454388819 We will see how long it takes to get the bridge replaced. That is obviously the more diff...

Re: Churches, Dealerships, and Franchises
Flawed as the conservative Mennonite community may be, the finances, emotions, and time invested in trying to help newcomers and their families assimilate into the community stands as a testament to a desire that the new community members will share in the cultural capital of the community. I'm not...

Re: Churches, Dealerships, and Franchises
If no culture is better than another culture, then it's not accurate to use the word "culture" to describe a lifestyle formed by intentional choices to live according to God's will. Right...though I think the term "God's will" needs some elucidating. Is the straight cut coat say...

Re: Poll: Auto Accident Fatalities and Injuries
Maybe the problem here isn't the phone but the car. If he was reading sports scores on his phone while riding an Amish buggy I doubt he would have accidentally swerved into the oncoming lane and caused a crash. The difference there is he would have died rather then killed. Still breaking the law. N...

Re: Poll: Auto Accident Fatalities and Injuries
I'm kind of curious why you quoted me in this post, considering that what you posted had exactly nothing at all to do with my post that you quoted. I understand you think reading comprehension is hard, but still.... You and Ohio Jones were having a discussion about intent. You wrote: Now OJ - you o...

Re: Poll: Auto Accident Fatalities and Injuries
I don't get why people pack out the courtroom in cases like this. Not to mention testifying "he would never" when he actually did. It gives the impression that "we" think "we" are, or should be, above the law. There are better ways of supporting the accused. Watching s...

Re: Poll: Auto Accident Fatalities and Injuries
It's somewhat disconcerting to think that perhaps it is impossible to attend a court proceeding simply in order to witness firsthand what happens, without one's presence being construed as "support" for one side or the other, whatever it is that everyone means by "support."

Re: Works of the flesh observations
Dissensions - implies strife or discord and stresses a division into factions. Sounds to me like what has happened to many Anabaptists. Perhaps the most fragmented group in church history. The city and vicinity where I live in southern Ontario has many Mennonite groups that at some point in time ap...
