Re: Another Barge/Bridge Collision

Re: Mennonite Girl ,3, swept over waterfalls,2 years ago, parents now charged

Yes I am actually suggesting that. And it is also true in many cases because people have a distorted perception of risk. Take the example of unsecured firearms in the house. One risk is that you might get fined or punished for violating the law and leaving your loaded weapons lying about. This can ...

Re: Mennonite Girl ,3, swept over waterfalls,2 years ago, parents now charged

Again, take these two examples: Person 1 was extremely negligent in letting their child cross into a closed area and play in dangerous water and as a consequence the child dies Person 2 was negligently on their phone while driving and runs over a child in the street who dies Assume these two people...

Re: Mennonite Girl ,3, swept over waterfalls,2 years ago, parents now charged

It seems they are alleging negligence not malice in this case. Do you think ANY acts of negligence ever merit punishment? How is this materially different from say a case where someone is fiddling on their phone while driving and runs over a child? In our legal system, we usually punish negligence ...

Just a few items here , The original Sheriff in Jackson Co. NC ,had declined to press Charges here , but the lead investigator ,in the case , was so appalled by the total disregard for safety , Yes , there were signs and barriers in place at the top of the falls....That when he became the top law e...

Re: Justice

What is justice? We often hear "justice needs to be served" or perhaps "she deserves justice." What exactly do we mean, and exactly how does that look? Does it look different if the victim of the injustice is alive vs deceased? It is my studied opinion that we have no idea what ...

Re: When the boys start coming around...

Both of my married children didn't start dating until after the age 20 anyway, so we didn't have to worry about with them. :? Is it common practice among the Brethren for the married children to be dating? :? Not really. That was just the way it happened. Now I know there was a trend years ago amon...

Re: Mennonite Girl ,3, swept over waterfalls,2 years ago, parents now charged

Unless headlines should start saying "Girl, 3, swept over waterfalls whose parents are ex-Baptists" - something nobody ever does. I know you don't like it when people accuse you of lying, but you surely do take a lot of liberties with the truth. It took me only seconds to find headlines l...
