You're trying an impossibility. If an egg is properly boiled it will never be soft.

Re: Sheetz hit with federal discrimination lawsuit

Nope. What you have here is the federal government using disparate impact reasoning to “prove” there is discrimination. If a policy has a disproportionate impact on a favored group, it simply must be discriminatory. It is the kissing cousin of “implicit bias” as a cause of worse outcomes for black ...

Re: Sheetz hit with federal discrimination lawsuit

What happens if the government wins this case? I have no idea. Perhaps a fine that could be appealed. More likely my guess is that they settle and enter into a consent decree in which Sheetz agrees to change its hiring practices. And that will become a marker for other firms to comply with. If the ...

Men may call me a knave or a fool, a rascal, a scoundrel, and I am content; but they shall never by my consent call me reformed. Borrowed, in part, from John Wesley. Do we have your consent to call you "Saved" and "Regenerated"? Respectfully, in my view this is where reformed th...

Re: Sheetz hit with federal discrimination lawsuit

I don't know if that is all it is. But I'm pretty sure that that is all that the law requires. We are talking about Federal law here, not state law. Some states like CA have more restrictive regulations for how background checks can be used in the hiring process. But this is a Federal case in PA so...

Re: Sheetz hit with federal discrimination lawsuit

The thing to remember about companies such as Sheetz is that they do all of their job applications online through web forms. All similar big retail companies do the same. No human is actually reading or doing the first screen of applications. Apparently Sheetz set up a data screen that automaticall...

Re: Preparation for Baptism

I'm open to baptizing someone the same day, or take 1 year, 2 years, 3 years, whatever it takes to get a person ready for baptism. I've never understood why churches feel a need to have a set period of time for baptism preparation such as, no shorter than _____ and not longer than ________. A lot o...
