Re: Gadgets - Home+Garden

Ideally they would be rotating the chemicals used. If the same sprays are used every time, certain weeds may develop resistance to the active ingredients in those sprays. Maybe it's a matter of semantics, but I find it easier to think of selecting the weeds that have the resistance to the herbicide...

Re: Jury Duty

Would you consider Romans 9:1 to be "more than a simple yes or no?" How about Ephesians 4:17?

Re: POLL: Relating to Power: The Christian and Politics

... what about things like injustice and immorality and greed? Prophets of both the Old and New testaments seemed quite free to call out government injustice? Didn't John the Baptist die as a result of such a message to Herod? Didn't Jesus confront and condemn the hypocrisy and immorality of the au...

Re: Is it important to emulate the Anabaptists?

Chris, what is it that we should be trying to reform? I admit I have a serious dislike for using the word "reform" to describe what happens when a sinner repents of his sin and is born again. To me the connotation of the word "reform" suggests a person changing his life by his ow...

Re: Is it important to emulate the Anabaptists?

A separate concern is the degree to which modern anabaptists have accepted the idea that the true Church is within the church, as a core group, or remnant, as was True Israel in the midst of the nation of Israel in the OT period. If this is the way we should be now, then the original anabaptists ma...

Re: Bible Memorization (Children)

When pondering or discussing a particular issue or topic, those verses which we have "hid in our hearts" can be recalled to mind, allowing us to make decisions based on God's word without having to pull out our Bibles every time and look up what it says. To me Bible memorization is a bit l...

Re: POLL: Relating to Power: The Christian and Politics

I chose option 1, although my belief might align with option 2 depending on how it is carried out practically speaking. The apostle Paul used his hearing with Felix to reason with him of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come. I believe it is appropriate for Christians today to follow the e...

Re: Is it important to emulate the Anabaptists?

Chris, what meaning do you assign to the word "reform." The definition of reform is "Make changes in (something, typically a social, political, or economic institution or practice) in order to improve it." If I understand the drift of your comment you're using "reform" ...

Re: Gadgets - Home+Garden

i may be figuring out a mystery. when i first moved here, i had the lawn sprayed for weed control, they sprayed areas on the driveway. one spray pretty much took care of my needs for the season. i live in the country, not attempting to compete with golf courses. yearly, i have repeated. but, each y...

Re: Thanksgiving

I love thanksgiving. We are grateful to God. There's not a lot of commercialism. Family comes together. Some years we are scattered, I like those years less ... Christmas has become so commercial. Even Easter is getting polluted. Thanksgiving is still relatively pure. Agreed. I was telling my famil...
