I suspect that had the Baltimore bridge accident not just happened, we would never have heard about this Texas bridge. It is a pretty minor 2-lane bridge connecting to a small island. And the damage isn't enormous. They have mostly closed the bridge out of precaution. So we are mostly hearing about it because the nation is focused on bridges right now. Otherwise it would be a local story at best.

I remember driving the old 7 mile bridge to Key West in 1970-71. It was very narrow and when a large truck was oncoming, it was also a white knuckler. We did not need carnival rides in that era. We had narrow bridges.

In my lexicon, anything that carries cargo above decks falls into the category of barge. Parsing of terminologies can run into interesting exchanges.
